Who I am...

I'm Dave Hoot, video producer, animator, graphic designer, and web developer. On this site I hope to post examples of my work so potential employers and clients can get to know my capabilities. On my projects page you can find pieces I've done and gotten paid for. On this page you'll find examples of things I'm learning about, experimenting with and still working on.

This page looks similar to the home page but is different in subtle ways. I made the home page in Dreaweaver before I had learned much about CSS. The menu was done in Image Ready which created the Java script controling the mouse over actions. This page by contrast was created using an external CSS document. Designed to simulate the look and functionality of the home page but was created entirely with an external CSS file. Gone is over 30 or so lines of Java script and six image files.

I got a lot of exposure to CSS lately when I redesigned a website using only CSS to control content placement, appearance and functionality. I down loaded TopStyle, a CSS editing tool that gives you pop-up hints and suggestions for code options. I find it a little weak in features (like undo for starters) but it's easier than working in notepad. Topstyle also color codes the tags to help you navigate your document.

My latest project is a Flash banner ad for the Twin Lakes Brewery. I am posting it here for the first time to check it's loading time and other characteristics.
